Series background & context

The Murdergram series follows a group of young women whose search for work leads them into a life they never expected. The first book begins with four broke friends entering a church on Long Island looking for an opportunity. What they find is an introduction to a hidden murder-for-hire operation, and the women emerge with the skills and connections to become known as the Cristál Clique.

The job changes the friendship.

At the center is Cristal, who leads a close-knit group that is hungry for money, status, and a way out of their circumstances. The women learn how to survive in an underworld where being good at the job is not enough. They have to stay alert, keep their emotions in check, and decide who can be trusted with dangerous information.

The series is set around Brooklyn and Long Island, with the characters moving through a world where criminal work is presented as fast money but never simple money. Their youth and inexperience make them vulnerable. Heartbreak, envy, revenge, and the desire to prove themselves all put pressure on the clique from within.

Murdergram uses its title as a blunt description of the work on offer. Someone wants a problem removed, and the women are expected to deliver. But every assignment creates new risks, especially once ambition begins to compete with friendship. The tension comes not only from the people pursuing them, but also from what happens when the group stops wanting the same things.

The danger is personal before it is professional.

In Murdergram - Part 2, Cristal is presumed dead and Tamar tries to rise in the underworld as a hired gun. She travels from state to state, making money through murdergrams and trying to settle an old score. The problem is that her target may be hunting her too, turning the hunter into the person most at risk.

This is a short, dark crime series built around female friendship under extreme pressure. Start with Murdergram, then continue to Murdergram - Part 2. Reading them in order gives the second book's power struggles and betrayals their full weight. Expect a fast pace, criminal schemes, emotional fallout, and characters who discover that a close circle can become dangerous when power and fear get involved.
