Series background & context

More Than A Cowboy is a short contemporary duo that leans into the idea in the title. The heroes may come from ranch country, but the books make room for more complicated lives, harder pasts, and higher danger than a simple cowboy setup suggests.

The series includes Strong and Steady and Rough and Ready. One centers on Grayson Green, known as The Outlaw, a hard-working man trying to leave the past behind. The other follows a fighter whose old life is never quite as far away as he wants. In both books, the romance is tied to protection, second chances, and the question of whether these men can be trusted with more than a night.

The tone is contemporary, steamy, and slightly more suspense-driven than some of Vale's lighter cowboy series. If you want alpha heroes with rough edges and women who pull them toward something better, this is a quick and satisfying stop.
