Misfortunes Favorites is a Regency romance trilogy about three aristocratic men who were cursed by a Scottish witch when they were thirteen. They grow up wealthy, reckless, and convinced the curse is nothing more than a wild story. Then each reaches his thirtieth birthday and discovers that the witch was not joking.

The curse strips away the lives they took for granted. Fortunes disappear, family tragedies occur, and the men are forced to face the damage caused by their own choices. The King and Vi begins with the Marquess of Kingston, known as King, who loses his title and money overnight. Violet Baker runs a tavern in Seven Dials and has no patience for an entitled nobleman whose friends have damaged her business. King needs a place to hide, while Vi needs payment, and their forced proximity turns into something neither expects.

In My Fair Katie, gambling duke Henry Lewis finds himself penniless after a disastrous wager. Lady Katherine Malfort, the daughter of his enemy, has been sent away to his neglected estate and sees little reason to trust him. The final book, All About Genevieve, follows Rory Lumley after the curse brings terrible loss. He returns to care for his young daughter and finds unexpected help from capable governess Genevieve Brooking.

The books have a playful supernatural premise, but they take the men's consequences seriously. Each hero must become less selfish, more honest, and more useful to the people around him. The heroines are not prizes for good behavior. They challenge the men, protect their own independence, and insist on being treated as full partners.

There is plenty of familiar Regency fun, including estates, wagers, titles, family expectations, and social conflict. But the curse gives the trilogy an extra thread of mystery. It links the men's stories and keeps the question of redemption present in each book.
