Series background & context

Men In Uniform is a multi-author romance line that puts service members and their personal lives at the center of the story. Cat Devon's entry, Daddy in Dress Blues, brings the military setting close to home through a Marine who is suddenly confronted with fatherhood.

Curt Blackwell has spent years avoiding the emotional territory that once hurt him. Then he discovers that he has a three-year-old daughter, Blue. Bedtime routines, preschool concerns, and the daily work of becoming a parent are not missions he has trained for.

Jessie Moore, Blue's preschool teacher, knows Curt from the past.

Their reunion gives the book its tension. Curt has to face the limits of self-reliance, while Jessie has to decide whether a man who once walked away can be trusted with her heart and a little girl's future. The dress blues and Marine setting matter, but the story is really about creating a family when nobody has a clear plan.

As a shared-series installment, Daddy in Dress Blues can be read independently. It also became the opening point for Cat Devon's related Men of Honor sequence, so it is the natural place to start for readers who want more romances featuring Marines and their extended community.
