Author bio
Maren Moore was born and raised in the bayous of Louisiana, and that sense of place still shows up in the way she talks about home, food, family, and sports. She is a thirty-something wife, mom, and boutique owner living in south Louisiana, and her books tend to carry that same warm, down-to-earth energy.
Reading came early for her. She has said her love of books started in first grade with a Junie B. Jones book, and it never really let go. As a kid, she spent a lot of time tucked away with stories that were well above her reading level, happily disappearing into fictional worlds and picking up the kind of imagination that later fed her own work.
At some point, reading turned into curiosity about how stories are built.
Moore has talked about falling in love not just with books themselves, but with the craft behind them, the small pieces that fit together and make a story feel whole. That helps explain why her novels move the way they do. They tend to open fast, keep the emotional stakes clear, and balance humor, heat, and tenderness without losing sight of the happily-ever-after.
She made an early mark with Change on the Fly, the first book in her hockey romance world, and kept expanding from there. Books like Sincerely, The Puck Bunny, The Penalty Shot, and Playboy Playmaker show what many readers come to her for: athletes with big reputations, women who do not make life easy for them, and romance plots built around secrets, family complications, and chemistry that refuses to stay casual.
Sports are part of the fun.
But she does not stay in one lane. The Orleans University books, including Homerun Proposal, Catching Feelings, and Walkoff Wedding, shift from pro hockey to college baseball and give her stories a younger, campus-centered rhythm. She has said that LSU baseball's 2023 national championship helped inspire that series, which makes sense, because her enthusiasm for college baseball comes through loud and clear.
Christmas is too.
Her holiday romances, like The Mistletoe Bet, A Festive Feud, The Christmas List, and Better Not Pout, lean into small-town traditions, family baggage, and festive setups that are a little chaotic and a lot romantic. Across all of these books, the through line is easy to spot: Moore likes off-limits attraction, sharp banter, messy feelings, and people who have to learn that wanting something real can be scarier than keeping things light.
More recently, Red Card opened the door to rugby and another sports world, while the Hellcats Hockey books kept exploring the tension between rules and reckless choices. Through it all, she still sounds like the same lifelong reader who loved getting lost in a story. When she is not writing, she has said she is usually reading, catching up on favorite shows, or following college baseball with the energy of someone who truly means it.
