Savannah has to deal with a dark sorcerer, her own shifting nature, the truth about her family, and a prophecy that keeps getting worse the more she learns about it. The series also lays the groundwork for the Dark Wolf God storyline, so the stakes move from personal survival to something much larger.

At the center of it all is Savannah's fight to keep her own agency. She is pulled by a mate bond, pressured by enemies, and haunted by secrets that other people think they understand better than she does. Jaxson is important, but the books work because Savannah never disappears into his story. Her choices keep steering the series.
