Maegan Brown Books in Order

Maegan Brown is the cook, writer, and host behind The BakerMama, a food project built around family-friendly recipes, generous snack boards, and low-stress ways to feed people. Her work starts from a simple idea: food can be useful, fun, and a good excuse to gather.

She was born in Enterprise, Alabama, where her father was in the military. Her family lived in Germany for four years before settling in Ada, Oklahoma, where she finished high school. She later attended the University of Oklahoma, earning a degree in marketing and management.

Food was always tied to home for Brown. She has written about growing up with family-style meals, including food served on a wooden lazy Susan, while her father made wooden boards by hand. Those early memories eventually helped shape both her cooking and the board-centered ideas that became her signature.

In 2012, she started The BakerMama with one recipe: peanut butter chocolate chunk cookies. What began as a home for approachable baking and meal ideas grew into a large collection of recipes, party food, and playful ways to arrange everyday ingredients. Brown keeps the focus on things home cooks can actually put together, rather than food that has to look perfect.

Then the boards took off.

Her first cookbook, Beautiful Boards, arrived in 2019. It offers 50 snack boards for holidays, breakfasts, desserts, family meals, and casual gatherings, moving well beyond the usual cheese-and-charcuterie setup. The book also includes simple recipes and practical tips for building colorful spreads with prepared and fresh foods.

Brown followed it with Spectacular Spreads, which shifts from snack boards to larger, shareable meals and build-your-own food bars. It is meant for feeding a family or hosting friends without spending the entire event stuck in the kitchen. Brilliant Bites continues that idea with 75 small foods for parties, breakfasts, snacks, desserts, and holidays, plus drink pairings.

Her books are for people who like a plan but still want room to play. A football-shaped snack tray, a breakfast spread, or a tray of bite-size treats can make an ordinary meal feel a little more like an occasion.

Brown lives in Dallas, Texas, with her husband, Brandon, and their four children, Baker, Bryce, Barrett, and Brookie. The kitchen remains the center of the family’s busy home, where recipes get tested, meals get shared, and there is usually something ready for whoever walks through the door.
