The ongoing story is less about one criminal mastermind than about how this large family changes, makes room for younger members, clashes over responsibility, and still manages to get the work done. This makes the books a good fit for readers who enjoy ensemble mysteries. Rather than following one solitary investigator, the series lets several voices and generations take part. Family loyalty is real, but it does not erase irritation, rivalry, or the occasional very bad idea. The humor comes from those relationships as much as from the plots.

Start with Family Business to meet the household and understand the agency's rhythms. Family Trio is a later collection of three shorter Lunghi stories and works best after readers know the family. The three novels can be enjoyed as individual Bath mysteries, but reading in order gives the domestic side of the series more room to grow.
