Author bio

Lucy Kevin is the sweet-romance pen name of Bella Andre, a contemporary romance writer born in Rochester, New York, and raised in Northern California. She studied economics at Stanford, but books were in the picture long before that. Her mother was a big reader, her father wrote nonfiction, and that mix of story, curiosity, and steady work seems to have stayed with her.

Before she became known for romance, she took a winding route. She worked as a marketing director, spent years as a professional musician, and learned what it means to hold an audience's attention from one song to the next.

Then writing took over.

After college, she picked up The Artist's Way and started doing its morning-pages exercise. She has said that the practice unlocked something unexpected: characters began talking in her head, and the only way to quiet them down was to write their story. That nudge turned into finished manuscripts, early publishing success, and eventually a career big enough to support several different names and reading experiences.

As Bella Andre, she writes steamier contemporary romance. As Lucy Kevin, she keeps the same warmth and forward motion, but with a lighter, sweeter feel. That split makes a lot of sense once you read her work. Even when the tone changes, she is still drawn to emotionally generous stories, capable women, devoted men, and happy endings that feel earned.

She also loves giving a series a strong home base.

In the Lucy Kevin books, that often means a built-in community. The Wedding Gift, The Wedding Dance, and The Wedding Song all unfold around the Rose Chalet, a San Francisco wedding venue where caterers, florists, musicians, designers, and owners keep crossing paths. In the Walker Island books, beginning with Be My Love, she shifts to five sisters, old family history, and Pacific Northwest views. In The Beach Wedding and the later Married in Malibu novels, she brings that same linked-standalone rhythm to sunny Southern California.

Her first Lucy Kevin novel, Seattle Girl, found readers fast, and the pen name kept growing from there. The Four Weddings and a Fiasco books became a New York Times bestselling series, Walker Island became a USA Today bestseller, and Bella Andre's wider catalog has sold more than 10 million copies. She also became one of the early romance writers to make independent publishing work on a very large scale, building her own publishing company, Oak Press.

What readers tend to like most is easy to spot. Her books are welcoming. The worlds are connected without being hard to follow, the conflicts usually come from trust, timing, family, or old hurt rather than cruelty, and the settings do a lot of emotional work. Weddings, islands, beach towns, big families, and creative jobs all give her romances a lived-in feeling.

These days, Bella is married with two children and splits her time between the Northern California wine country, the Adirondacks, London, and Carmel-by-the-Sea. When she is not writing, she has said she likes reading, hiking, swimming, playing pickleball, and spending time with friends and family. That balance between movement, work, and home fits her books pretty well.
