Series background & context

The Love Inc. books are where Ella James really starts mixing romance with danger. These stories live in a world of money, sex, blackmail, privilege, and people making one reckless decision after another while telling themselves it is temporary.

The frame around the series is glamorous and seedy at the same time. Las Vegas, wealth, private vice, escort culture, cartel pressure, political rot, and hidden loyalties all have a place here. The result is not cozy contemporary romance. It is romantic suspense with an erotic edge and a habit of pushing its characters into situations that are way messier than they expected.

The series begins around the orbit of Love Inc., an exclusive brothel and escort empire tied to Marchant Radcliffe and the people around him. Vegas Royals works as a prequel mood piece, showing the moneyed chaos and tangled lives that feed into the main books. Then Selling Scarlett introduces Elizabeth DeVille and Hunter West, with a plan that drops Libby into a dangerous world she never meant to enter.

From there, the focus shifts but the world stays connected. Taming Cross follows Cross Carlson as he tries to do something decent after failing badly before, and that book stretches the series outward into Mexico, guilt, and rescue. Unmaking Marchant pulls the spotlight onto the man who has been standing in the background all along, letting the emotional damage behind the glamour catch up with him.

That is one of the strengths of Love Inc.. Each book has its own couple and its own main conflict, but the series still feels like a shared ecosystem. Characters recur. Past choices matter. The social and criminal web connecting these people never really goes away.

It is a dangerous little universe.

The romances themselves are built on tension, and not just sexual tension. James keeps returning to questions of what people owe each other after betrayal, how guilt shapes desire, and whether someone can build a real relationship inside a world that treats bodies and affection as negotiable things.

If you want clean lines and simple problems, this is not that series. If you want high emotion, linked stories, compromised people, and a world where love keeps breaking through the worst possible circumstances, Love Inc. is a strong place to start. This page puts the books in order so you can follow the characters through the full web of secrets, danger, and hard-earned connection.
