Love in New York is a looser contemporary romance series, but the shared mood is clear from the start. Lost and Found brings together Leah, a broke new-age hippie, and James, a wealthy surgeon who looks like her complete opposite. Cabin Fever shifts into a more closed-in setup, with an artist's retreat turning into a snowbound emotional standoff between Jeremy and Sarah. Mister Fixit moves the action to Brooklyn, where Jana buys a fixer-upper and finds that a house is not the only thing in her life that needs repair.

Casey wrote these books after soaking up New York in person, and that shows in the way the series leans on Manhattan energy, Brooklyn corners, cramped apartments, and the feeling that one strange day can shove a life in a different direction.
