Louisiana Knights Books in Order

The Louisiana Knights books are contemporary Southern romances with a playful idea at the center. Jennifer Blake takes the old language of chivalry and knighthood, gives her heroes names like Lancelot, Galahad, and Tristan, and then drops them into modern Louisiana. The result is warmer, funnier, and more down to earth than the names might make you expect.

These are Benedict men, but not polished fairy-tale princes.

In Lancelot of the Pines, Galahad in Jeans, Tristan on a Harley, and the holiday novella Christmas Knight, the heroes are deputies, good old boys, motorcycle riders, property owners, and stubborn local men who still carry a strong protective streak. Blake is clearly interested in the old Southern ideal of the gentleman, but she also enjoys poking at it. Can a modern man be chivalrous without being ridiculous? Can a woman want help without surrendering her own judgment? That tension gives the series much of its charm.

The heroines are a big part of why the books work. They are not waiting around to be rescued. Mandy is suspicious for good reason. Carla thinks the whole gentleman myth is overblown. Zeni is too smart and too sharp to be handled easily. Donna walks into Christmas Knight with an errand of her own and no intention of becoming anyone's project. These women make the heroes prove that their protectiveness can coexist with respect.

Setting matters here too. The books are steeped in small-town and backwater Louisiana, with swamps, old family ties, local gossip, and communities where everybody knows at least part of everybody else's business. That gives the stories a cozy feeling even when danger enters the plot.

Danger does enter, though. Missing husbands, revenge plots, movie-set chaos, and plain bad judgment keep the books moving. So while the tone is lighter than Blake's darker historicals or Gothics, these are not weightless romances.

They are about attraction, yes, but also about reputation, trust, and whether old-fashioned loyalty still means something in a modern setting.

Blake's answer is pretty clear. It does, especially when the right woman is around to test it.
