Series background & context

The Lone Star series asks a very specific question, what happens when most of America goes dark, but Texas is better prepared than everyone else? That setup gives Akart room to write both a post-apocalyptic survival story and a political thriller about borders, sovereignty, and hard choices made under pressure.

The opening disaster is an EMP attack tied to larger global conflict. While much of the country is plunged into chaos, Texas still has more structure than most places, and that changes everything. Suddenly the state becomes refuge, fortress, and flashpoint all at once. Akart moves between Washington, Austin, and West Texas, which keeps the story large without losing the family and community stakes.

Texas matters here as more than scenery.

Across Axis of Evil, Beyond Borders, Lines in the Sand, Texas Strong, Fifth Column, and Suicide Six, the series follows the consequences of survival with borders. Who gets in. Who gets turned away. Who tries to infiltrate from within. The tension comes from both outside threats and the moral cost of protecting one place when the rest of the map is burning.

If you like Akart's collapse fiction but want something with a stronger geopolitical angle, Lone Star is a good bet. It is one of his clearest blends of national strategy and ground-level survival.
