Series background & context

The Lockhart Sweet Regency Romance series follows five siblings as each faces a different route to love in Regency England. The books share a family name and a connected social world, but every novel gives one couple the main stage and its own happy ending.

The Lockharts live among titles, estates, parliamentary ambitions, and the careful rules of polite society. That does not make their choices easy. Across the series, characters face coercive engagements, political disagreements, hidden danger, childhood attachments, and plans that look sensible on paper but fail to account for the heart.

Wager for a Lady's Hand begins with Miss Marianne Twisden, who is trapped in an engagement to an abusive man. Lord Sheldon Lockhart becomes an ally, but helping her find freedom requires a risky game against a man who holds power over her future. It establishes the series' interest in courage and practical problem-solving alongside romance.

In Lily For My Enemy, Lord Felix Lockhart and Miss Jocelyn Hunt find themselves on opposing sides of a political divide. A Heart In The Balance moves toward danger when Lady Cassandra Lockhart discovers Lord Nigel Southcott wounded and in need of help. The next book, A Farewell Kiss, returns to a long-standing connection between Lord Quintin Lockhart and Esther Collingwood after his time away in India.

The final novel, A Well-Kept Promise, gives Lady Venetica Lockhart and Edmund Dawkes, Marquess of Ashbrook, an arrangement meant to help them attract other people. Naturally, their strategy creates a more complicated problem: they begin noticing each other.

The tone is warm and clean, with family appearances and recurring relationships helping the books feel connected. The stories do include real concerns, particularly around safety, social power, and reputation, but the overall experience is hopeful rather than grim.

Begin with Wager for a Lady's Hand if you want the full family arc. Readers can also enter with the trope that appeals most, then circle back for the other Lockhart siblings.
