The Loch follows Zachary Wallace, a Scottish born marine biologist who nearly drowned as a child on Loch Ness and has spent his adult life avoiding both the loch and his con man father, Angus. After a near fatal accident in the Sargasso Sea triggers terrifying flashbacks, Zach is summoned back to Scotland when Angus is accused of murdering his business partner, a case that seems tied to whatever really inhabits the depths of Loch Ness.

What begins as a legal thriller quickly widens into a cryptozoological investigation, mixing folklore, sonar sweeps, disputed photographs, and hard science as Zach tries to prove or disprove the monster and survive the fallout either way.

While Angus pursues a dubious genetic fix for the loch's missing legend, Zach and his friend True head to a remote crater lake on the China North Korea border for an international science competition, only to find fresh sightings of something impossible beneath the surface.
