Author bio

Liora Blake is a contemporary romance author and Colorado native who still lives in the state. Her books are modern love stories with real jobs, strong attraction, and characters who often seem put together on the outside while quietly carrying a lot on the inside.

By her own account, writing is what she's always wanted to do.

She has said her path to publication came with plenty of detours, pitfalls, and moments of doubt, which may help explain why her fiction feels grounded in adult lives rather than fantasy versions of them. Blake writes novels because she likes to tell the whole story, and she writes romance because, for her, a happily ever after is the best kind of ending. That simple mission runs through everything she does.

Her debut, True North, immediately showed the shape of her work. The book pairs Kate Mosely, a widowed Montana writer, with Trevor Jenkins, a rock star whose public swagger hides a much softer center. It is sexy and funny, but it is also about grief, guilt, and the scary business of letting joy back into your life.

Blake kept building that world in True Devotion and True Divide. Instead of staying with one couple, she widened the circle to follow siblings, friends, and old crushes, letting the series move from music-world chaos to small-town Montana heartbreak and back again. Readers who like interconnected romances tend to click with this setup, because every new book feels related to the last one without repeating it.

Then she brought the focus back home to Colorado.

Her Grand Valley books, First Step Forward, Second Chance Season, and Ready for Wild, trade the music scene for orchards, farms, co-ops, and open country in western Colorado. Blake has said she wanted to show a side of the state that outsiders do not always picture, the vineyards, fruit orchards, and working landscapes beyond the resort-town postcard version. That setting gives these books a lived-in feel. You can sense the land, the labor, and the stakes. Later, After This returned to Colorado for a sharper enemies-to-lovers setup built around a struggling racetrack and a land deal nobody can treat lightly.

Across these books, Blake likes pairing people who do not look like obvious matches at first glance. A pro football player and an orchard owner. A game warden and a TV hunting star. A tough, wary woman and the flirt everyone assumes is trouble. She has also said she writes hero-centric romances, and you can see that in the way her male leads are often confident, funny, and unexpectedly tender once the armor slips.

That is probably the through line in her work. The tension rarely comes from silly misunderstandings or people refusing to have a basic conversation. It comes from grief, class differences, career pressure, family duty, pride, and the stubborn question of whether two adults can build a real life in the same place at the same time. The books are hot, but they are also interested in work, money, belonging, and what home means.

Off the page, the details Blake has shared are refreshingly ordinary. She lives in Colorado with her husband and a very lazy dog, bakes cookies she probably does not need, and jokes about finding reasons not to go for a run. That low-key, self-aware humor fits the books. If you are new to her, start with True North for rock-star romance and wounded hearts, or First Step Forward for rural Colorado, sports, and small-town warmth.
