Lenny and Lucas Adventure Books in Order

The Lenny and Lucas Adventure books rewind the clock on two characters Miami Jones readers already know from later stories. Before they were part of Miami's orbit, Lenny Cox and Lucas Burnside were out in the world having the kind of adventures that leave scars, grudges, and very strong opinions about authority. Stewart frames the series as the earlier life of two well-trained soldiers who have little patience for bullies and even less patience for powerful people stepping on those with no way to fight back.

That attitude is the heart of the series.

Temple of Gold sets the tone right away. Lenny, a Marine, is in the Kampuchean jungle watching over a CIA supply drop when he realizes the recipients are ex-Khmer Rouge soldiers, years after the killing fields. Instead of keeping his head down, he asks the kind of questions that make life harder. Soon he crosses paths with Lucas Burnside, an Australian SAS soldier who is just as suspicious and just as unhappy about what is happening around them. From there, the story turns into a fight against spies, soldiers, and governments that would prefer silence.

What makes these books work is the partnership. Lenny and Lucas are both trained, tough, and practical, but they are not identical. Lenny's instinct is to protect the innocent even when the mission says otherwise. Lucas brings skill, nerve, and a healthy disregard for official chains of command. Together they feel like the kind of duo who can get through a jungle, a firefight, or a political mess, and then spend the aftermath complaining about the people who caused it.

The setting matters a lot. This series does not stay in cozy territory. It moves through places where history is raw, armed groups still carry power, and the line between official policy and dirty work is very thin. Stewart uses that backdrop to keep the stakes physical and moral at the same time. The danger is not only whether Lenny and Lucas survive. It is also whether they can do something useful in a world where almost everybody has compromised themselves.

Even with the heavier subject matter, these are still adventure novels at heart. Expect movement, pursuit, shifting alliances, rough humor, and the pleasure of watching two capable people refuse to look away.
