Lea Griffith was born in Atlanta, and she came to books early. As a kid, she snuck into her mother's romance novels and read writers like McNaught, Woodiwiss, and Garwood. That mix of big feeling, danger, and hard-won happy endings stayed with her.

Love came first.

Before she published anything of her own, Griffith was already reading across the full romance shelf. She has said she moved from contemporary romance into paranormal stories, science fiction, and suspense, always circling back to the idea that love is the emotion that keeps people going. After years of reading widely, she started writing the kinds of stories she wanted to live in herself, stories with heat, urgency, and people pushed right to the edge.

That range shows up clearly in her books. Too Much and More lean into second chances, bruised hearts, and intense chemistry. Bullet to the Heart opens her No Mercy world with a heroine shaped into a killer, then throws romance and revenge into the same fire. Flash of Fury and Running the Risk move into military romantic suspense, where black ops missions, betrayal, and old grief keep the pressure high.

She likes pressure.

Across Griffith's fiction, you see a few patterns again and again. Her characters are often dangerous on paper and deeply vulnerable up close. She writes women who have been trained, cornered, scarred, or underestimated, and men who carry loyalty like a wound. She also returns often to second chances, not in a soft or easy way, but in stories where trust has to be rebuilt while the world is still actively falling apart.

Today she lives in rural Georgia with her husband and three teenage daughters. Family life also includes two dogs, a cat, and a beta fish named Coddy George. It sounds like a busy house, which feels fitting for a writer who has said she uses every spare second she can find to get back to the keyboard.
