Author bio
Kris Norris writes romance that likes motion. Military teams, stalkers, angels, vampires, rescue pilots, and people with complicated histories all show up in her books, usually with danger close behind. She describes herself as unapologetically Canadian, and that mix of humor, drive, and restlessness runs through both her work and the way she talks about her life.
Before writing became the center of her working life, she built a varied resume. She has held a commercial helicopter license, worked with 911 emergency services, captained boats, and worked as a tour guide. That practical background helps explain why her books feel comfortable around aircraft, rescue work, law enforcement, wilderness settings, and people who know how to function under pressure.
She does not sound like someone who enjoys sitting still.
Norris has also spoken about being a single mother and about writing around the noise and chaos of family life. She jokes that the voices in her head turned out not to be a reason for a padded room, just characters asking for page time. That sense of humor matters. Even when her plots get dark, there is usually a sharp, human edge underneath the heat and suspense.
Readers who come to her through Deadly Vision, Deadly Obsession, and Deadly Deception usually find romantic suspense first, agents, stalkers, serial killers, and couples forced to face what they still mean to each other. In Sacred Talisman and the later Dark Prophecy books, she leans into vampires, ancient power, and paranormal danger. Healing Hands shows her fantasy side, while Gabriel and Michael move into angels, demons, and looming apocalypse.
Her Brotherhood Protectors and Wayward Souls novels show another major thread in her work. Books like Midnight Ranger, Carved In Ice, Delta Force: Colt, and Raven's Watch are built around former military characters trying to make a life after service, only to get pulled back into trouble by a case, a mission, or a person they cannot walk away from. She clearly likes competence in a hero, but she also likes the messy moment when competence is not enough and someone has to trust, forgive, or start over.
Action gets a lot of page time, but the emotional hook is usually the real engine.
Across her catalog, certain things repeat in a good way. Readers will see protective teams, found family, second chances, hidden identities, and people carrying scars from old jobs and old losses. They will also see settings that feel lived in, from foggy coastal towns to mountain trails to places where a helicopter or a tactical plan can change the entire shape of a story.
Outside the books, Norris has written about loving the outdoors. Mountain biking, running, rock climbing, mountaineering, and adventure racing all seem to be part of the picture, and she has also joked about chasing Bigfoot with her dogs. It fits. Her stories rarely feel housebound. Even when the romance is intense, there is usually a sense of open ground, bad weather, hard terrain, or people who would rather solve a problem in motion.
These days, she seems to split her creative energy between writing and cover design, while continuing to expand the romantic suspense side of her bibliography. If you are new to her work, the easiest way in is to pick the flavor you like best, serial-killer suspense, military protectors, paranormal romance, or a little bit of all of it.
