The series begins with Whispers Left Behind. A year after the Fallbrook Killer walked free, a mutilated body is found in a remote barn. The death resembles the earlier killings, sending the town into panic and putting Kinsley back at the center of a nightmare.

Kinsley's father defended the accused killer, and the acquittal left a mark on her career and on the town. But Kinsley knows the original killer is dead because she was the one who killed him.
