The Soul You Own

by TL Swan

2027

This announced second Kings of the Riviera novel continues T L Swan's series after The Heart You Kept.

Series background & context

Kings of the Riviera is T L Swan's contemporary romance series set around wealth, secrecy and the risks of an attraction that hasn't faded. Its opening novel, The Heart You Kept, centres on Alora Sorenson and Edward Prescott. A brief encounter gives them a shared past, but meeting again brings that past into a world where money and influence make everything more complicated.

Their story begins with a memory neither has quite left behind.

Three years before their reunion, Alora and Edward spent a secret weekend in the Swiss Alps. She believes she has moved on from the man she met there. When he returns to her life, however, the distance between remembering someone and being free of them becomes hard to ignore. The romance starts with unfinished feelings, so the attraction is already present before either character has worked out what a new relationship would involve.

Edward owns a vast casino empire. His life includes high society, luxury yachts and enemies, making him a difficult person to separate from the power surrounding him. He is used to a world very different from Alora's, and his return brings more than the chance to repeat their earlier encounter. The position he holds makes his secrets and conflicts part of the problem facing them as a couple.

Alora prefers a quieter existence, with interests in antiques and vintage clothing. That contrast matters because wanting Edward doesn't mean wanting every part of his life. She is drawn towards someone whose surroundings don't feel like her own. The question isn't simply whether the chemistry remains, but whether a connection formed in private can survive the pressures attached to the man he is now.

The Riviera supplies a setting where luxury and danger can sit close together. The series uses the appeal of an expensive, exclusive world while placing uncertainty beneath its surface. Secrets helped shape Alora and Edward's first encounter, and the possibility of the past returning gives their reunion a suspense element. Romantic desire is therefore tied to questions about trust and what either person really knows about the other.

Start with The Heart You Kept, which establishes the relationship and the world around it. The Soul You Own follows in the series. The opening book introduces an ongoing story, so publication order is the clearest way to follow the developments without jumping ahead. Readers can expect an explicit billionaire romance with emotional tension and suspense, built around the difficulty of revisiting a powerful connection when the circumstances surrounding it have become much less simple.
