Killer Bunny Books in Order

Killer Bunny follows Liza Pound, one of the more instantly memorable leads in Timothy Ellis's universe. Her nickname tells you plenty. It sounds faintly ridiculous, which suits Ellis just fine, but the books make clear very quickly that underestimating Liza is a serious mistake.

She hates the name. That helps.

Liza starts the series as a mystery to the people above her. She can look calm in training and then dominate in combat. She has left one path behind, wants command of the Black Sheep, and keeps finding that what she wants and what the universe hands her are rarely the same thing. That tension drives the whole run. These books are about earning authority, surviving military and political pressure, and figuring out what kind of leader Liza is going to be.

The scale is tighter than in some of the older Hunter branches, and that gives Killer Bunny a sharp, focused energy. The books stay close to squadron life, command struggles, and the problem of being a capable woman in systems that do not always know what to do with that. Liza's rivals, superiors, and enemies all give the series its bite, while the Black Sheep crew gives it loyalty and shape.

There is also a nice escalation across the titles. Killer Bunny and Black Sheep establish the role and the cost of getting it. Fox Season, Nemesis Rising, Tail Pulling, and Tiger Poking all suggest the same pattern, Liza does not stop when the smart move would probably be to stop. That stubbornness is a feature, not a bug.

These are military SF books with pace, competence, and a lead who gets stronger by owning the reputation other people tried to stick on her.

If you want a focused, later-era entry point with a strong female protagonist, squadron action, and a lot of underdog command energy, this is one of Ellis's best.
