Series background & context

Karma's Witches is a shared-world paranormal series, and that shared feeling is part of the appeal. The books are tied together by family, fate, and a town called Karma, where magical problems never stay private for long.

Elizabeth A Reeves is one of the core writers in the project.

The series begins with women discovering that the lives they thought they understood are only part of the story. In Life's a Witch, Amber learns that she is a hereditary witch, that her family history is not what she believed, and that she is not nearly as alone as she thought. That revelation sets the whole line in motion. Siblings appear. Old secrets crack open. Romantic complications arrive right on schedule.

Karma itself works like more than a backdrop. It is the sort of town where the supernatural sits close to the everyday. Houses still need decorating for Halloween. People fall in love, argue, and plan weddings. But ghosts, demons, inherited power, and long-buried family betrayals are always close enough to ruin dinner. Reeves is good at that small-town paranormal rhythm, where domestic life and magical danger keep bumping into each other.

Her books in the series often circle around Amber, Geoff, and the family being built around them, but they also open space for Flint Renton and the dark knot of Renton family history. Haunting Karma shows Amber trying to adjust to the fact that she finally has sisters, only to discover that this new life comes with new hauntings. Hard as Flint and Flint Lock dig into Flint's loyalty to his father, his growing doubts, and the ugly truths behind the plans being laid for the witches of Karma. Later books like Amber in Ashes, Amber Alone, and Spark of Life keep pressing on marriage, children, secrecy, and the danger that comes from enemies who know exactly where the family's soft spots are.

That family angle is the real through line. The magic matters, and so do the demons and prophecies, but this series runs on relationships. Sisters find each other. Couples get tested. Parents fail their children. Children inherit the fallout. Even the town feels like part of the family system, full of people who know too much and not enough at the same time.

Because the books are connected and written as part of a long arc, this is a series you really do want to read in order. The payoffs depend on earlier reveals, and character loyalties shift over time. Reeves's entries especially reward readers who like watching a household get built under pressure, then defended at all costs.

Expect romance, hauntings, magical politics, and a lot of emotional spillover. Karma's Witches has room for all of it, and Reeves's books give the series some of its warmest family moments and some of its sharpest supernatural trouble.
