He begins as an operative for a detective agency, later takes on law-enforcement assignments, and eventually works alongside other former lawmen. His allies shift, old debts come due, and each job adds another layer to his past.

Expect tough mysteries, moving targets, and plenty of moral pressure. The books work as individual cases, but Cole's relationships and hard-earned history land better in sequence.
