Author bio
Jennifer Snow is a Canadian romance novelist and screenwriter whose books tend to pair big feelings with places readers want to move into right away, snowy towns, close-knit families, busy inns, mountain rinks, and windy Alaskan coastlines. Long before she was publishing, she was the kind of kid who knew exactly what she wanted to do. At fifteen, she mailed a handwritten manuscript to Harlequin. It was rejected, but kindly, and that mattered.
Life took the scenic route after that. She worked jobs, took college courses, fell in love, and had a son. Writing slipped to the side for a while, not because she stopped wanting it, but because real life was loud.
Then she came back to it with purpose. Snow has said that becoming a mother pushed her to try again, partly because she wanted to prove to her son that dreams are worth chasing. She wrote the first manuscript that sold with her little boy on her lap, which tells you a lot about the practical, stubborn streak underneath all the romance.
That mix of warmth and determination runs through her fiction. In her Brookhollow stories, including The Trouble with Mistletoe, What a Girl Wants, and Falling for Leigh, she leans into small-town closeness, old crushes, second chances, and the kind of holiday tension that can make two people rethink everything. Readers who like community-driven romance usually find a lot to enjoy there.
She also likes to change the backdrop without losing the emotional center. The Colorado Ice books, such as Maybe This Time, Maybe This Love, and Maybe This Christmas, bring hockey, family pressure, and plenty of unresolved history into the mix. Her Beyond the Cage novels move into MMA territory, while still keeping the focus on people trying to balance ambition, attraction, and the messes they have made of their own hearts.
And then there is Alaska. Series like Wild River and Wild Coast, with books such as An Alaskan Christmas, Stars Over Alaska, and Love on the Coast, show how much Snow enjoys a setting that can do some heavy lifting. In these books, the landscape is not just pretty scenery. Snowy roads, rescue work, rough water, and isolated towns all help shape the choices her characters make.
Snow's career has expanded beyond novels, too. She is also a screenwriter, with produced romantic comedies and dramas to her name, and some of her stories have been adapted for the screen. Her books have earned awards, including the Booksellers Best Award, and she has built a large backlist that moves easily between sweet romance, steamier contemporary stories, and, under another name, darker suspense.
These days she lives in Spain with her husband and son, after many years in Edmonton, Alberta. She has also taught workshops, mentored writers, and spent time in writer-in-residence roles, which feels fitting. Her own path into publishing was not quick or neat, and that history gives her work a grounded feeling. Even when the setup is delightfully romantic, the people inside it usually have jobs, baggage, family complications, and just enough hope to try again.
