Author bio

Jennifer Malone Wright is an American author of urban fantasy, paranormal romance, young adult fantasy, and horror. She is best known for The Vampire Hunter's Daughter, the short, fast-moving series that introduces Chloe Kallistrate and the dangerous world hidden behind her family history.

Wright's public author bios place her in the mountains of northern Idaho, where she lives with her husband, a former Army soldier, and their children. The picture that comes through is pretty grounded: family noise by day, fiction after everyone else has finally gone quiet. She has described that leftover time as the stretch when the stories, freelance work, and chats with friends tend to happen.

She writes late.

Her first listed novel, The Birth of Jaiden, appeared in 2011 and already showed many of the pieces she would keep returning to: vampires, witches, prophecy, chosen children, and found families trying to protect someone in danger. From there she moved into serialized storytelling, where each short installment pushes a character through one more fight, secret, or bad decision.

The Vampire Hunter's Daughter became the center of that early work. Chloe starts as a fourteen-year-old girl who loses her mother and learns that vampire hunting is not a hobby or a job. It is in her blood. Readers who stick with Chloe follow her training, grief, first love, anger, and the messy discovery that family can be both shelter and threat.

That story kept growing.

Wright continued Chloe's arc in The Arcadia Falls Chronicles, where the vampire war moves beyond one scared teenager and into a larger world of hunters, vampires, angels, Greek mythology, sirens, and other supernatural beings. The books keep the pace quick, but they also make room for the cost of fighting. Chloe, Drew, Alice, Oscar, Christina, and the rest of the group do not get to stay kids for long.

She also writes outside Arcadia Falls. Graveyard Guardians moves into adult paranormal romance, with the Estmond family protecting the souls of the dead from Reapers. Savior and The Birth of Jaiden build around a vampire asked to raise and protect a powerful child. Once Upon a Zombie Apocalypse, written with K.B. Miller, turns the danger more bloody and immediate, with friends trying to survive after chemical warfare unleashes zombies.

A lot of her stories come back to the same simple pressure point: ordinary life breaks, and someone has to decide what kind of person they are going to be afterward. Her characters are often young, angry, scared, loyal, and more powerful than they understand at first. They train, argue, fall in love, and usually run straight toward the thing that could kill them. That mix of danger and family drama is a big part of her appeal.

Wright's author notes also hint at the person behind the pages. She has joked about practicing for the zombie apocalypse, loving coffee and Red Bull, wishing for better sushi, and dancing while she cleans. It fits the books: a little chaos, a little humor, and a lot of supernatural trouble after dark.
