Series background & context
Arcadia Falls Academy is a next-generation spin-off from Jennifer Malone Wright's vampire hunter world. By the time Vampire Hunting 101 begins, vampires, witches, mythological beings, and other supernaturals are no longer just rumors. The hidden world has pushed into the open, and young people now have to learn how to live with danger sitting beside them in class.
The main character is Felicia Kallistrate, the seventeen-year-old daughter of two well-known Hunters. That family name comes with expectations. Felicia should be ready for elemental powers, formal training, and the serious life that comes with being part of a legendary bloodline. The problem is that her powers still have not appeared, and she would much rather put her brain to work building weapons, tinkering with explosives, and getting into trouble in the school lab.
She is not exactly teacher-approved.
The Academy setting lets the series mix supernatural politics with a school mystery. Felicia has grown up in a world shaped by her parents' battles, but she is not just a smaller copy of them. She is curious, stubborn, inventive, and restless. That makes her fun to follow, but it also means she is very good at stepping into problems before anyone has given her permission. Her skills may not look like the powers everyone expects, but they are still dangerous in the right, or wrong, hands. The book treats that uncertainty as part of her identity, not just a problem to be solved.
Those problems get serious when Christian Ramirez arrives at school. He is a dark, brooding vampire student, and Felicia is drawn to him before she fully understands why. On the same day he starts classes, another vampire boy is found dead. Then another body turns up, and the Academy's already tense balance between Hunters and vampires starts to crack. Felicia begins digging on her own, even though the clues point toward the very boy she cannot stop watching.
The series is a good fit for readers who want the Arcadia Falls world from a younger, sharper school angle. It keeps the familiar ingredients, vampires, Hunters, family pressure, romance, and danger, but gives them a fresh stage. Felicia is growing up after the old secrets have already exploded into public life. That makes her story less about discovering that monsters exist and more about deciding what kind of Hunter she wants to become in a world where everyone already knows.
