James SA Corey (Daniel Abraham) Books in Order

James S. A. Corey is the name Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck use for their collaborations. The best-known result is The Expanse, but this page also gathers their Star Wars novel and their newer Captive's War books. It is a useful place to see how the partnership moves between a long, completed saga and a fresh science fiction setting.

Their big project starts with Leviathan Wakes.

That book introduces a future solar system divided between Earth, Mars, and the Belt. Ice-hauler officer James Holden and Ceres detective Joe Miller follow different trails toward the same dangerous discovery. The crew of the Rocinante, Holden, Naomi Nagata, Amos Burton, and Alex Kamal, becomes the emotional center as the story grows from mystery and political brinkmanship into a fight over humanity's future.

The Corey novels like large systems, but they keep them human. A government may make policy, a corporation may chase profit, and an empire may claim order, but the consequences always arrive in somebody's home, workplace, or ship. That is why the series can move from a cramped station to an interstellar crisis without losing its sense of scale.

The Expanse novellas are worth knowing about. The Butcher of Anderson Station explores Fred Johnson's past, The Churn goes back to Amos Burton's childhood, and Strange Dogs opens a door into the later books. Memory's Legion collects the shorter fiction for readers who want it together after, or alongside, the main novels.

The later Captive's War books begin with The Mercy of Gods. In that setting, the Carryx conquer human beings on Anjiin and demand usefulness from every captive species. The focus is less on a familiar crew at first and more on people trying to stay human inside an alien war machine. Livesuit offers a connected military story, and The Faith of Beasts continues the conflict.

The partnership is built for pressure.
