It's Complicated Books in Order

It's Complicated sits in Maggie Cole's contemporary billionaire lane, but the title is not kidding. These books are romantic, high heat, and easier to settle into than the mafia series, yet they still carry a lot of emotional mess, family baggage, and the occasional sharp suspense twist.

The structure is similar to All In. Each book focuses on a different couple, but everyone moves through the same shared world. Friends show up again. Exes matter. Family histories spill across books. A choice made in one romance can cast a shadow over the next one.

That overlap is part of the fun.

The series covers a nice spread of setups. Crossing the Line brings workplace friction. Don't Forget Me leans more emotional. Committed to You moves into friends-to-lovers territory. Later books play with forbidden attraction, complicated legal ties, and, by the end, a stronger mafia-adjacent undercurrent through Dmitri and Anna's story. So even though these are all billionaire romances, they do not feel like the same book six times.

What links them is tone. The heroes are rich, confident, and usually a little too sure they can manage the situation. The heroines make that confidence expensive. Cole likes characters who want love but are very capable of sabotaging it, especially when the past gave them good reasons to stay guarded.

You can read these one at a time and still enjoy them, but the series works best in order because the linked cast adds a lot. It also gives you a good look at how Cole builds bridges between her lighter contemporary books and her darker mafia universe. If you want a starting point with plenty of chemistry and connected-character payoff, Crossing the Line is the right place to begin.
