Guard of Hope takes things abroad and throws a holiday fling into a criminal mess neither character can easily walk away from.

Then the series circles into second chances and deeper emotional damage. Guard of Liberty brings an estranged couple back together, forcing them to sort through old mistakes while danger creeps closer. Guard of Destiny turns grief, blame, and guilt into the emotional engine of the story, with a woman in real peril and a protector who has every reason to keep his distance, until he no longer can.

The tone across the books stays consistent. These are romances, but they are not airy ones. Trauma matters here. So do manipulation, stalking, kidnapping, criminal networks, and the way fear changes a person's choices. Delaney still leaves room for chemistry and tenderness, but she does not pretend love magically wipes away the hard parts.

The series also gets mileage out of the team dynamic. Even when a book focuses tightly on one couple, the wider protection unit gives the world shape. There is a sense of shared experience, old loyalty, and people who understand exactly what a bad situation can turn into.

If you like protective heroes, competent heroines, and plots where outside danger keeps the pressure high from chapter one, Intrepid Bodyguard is one of Delaney's strongest series to read in order. It delivers the expected bodyguard heat, but it also gives the relationships something serious to push against.
