Callie Indigo owns a private investigation agency and, especially at the start of the series, she is trying to make that business work. That gives these books a slightly different feel from the Teaberry or historical series. The mysteries are tied to cases, clients, and professional pressure from the beginning.

Callie is good at what she does, but that does not mean life is tidy.

One of the ongoing pleasures here is that Callie is not operating in a vacuum. Friends and family matter, and the books often give her more than one problem to manage at a time. That keeps the stories moving. A major case may anchor a book, but smaller complications, side questions, and personal obligations make the series feel active rather than locked into a single narrow puzzle.

The other key figure is Greyson Divine. He is the sort of character who changes the temperature of a scene simply by showing up. Callie prefers to work alone, yet Greyson keeps becoming useful at exactly the moments when she needs help most. In Classic Indigo, the two of them wind up dealing with a high-tech smuggling case together, and that uneasy partnership becomes part of the series' identity.

That tension works because Callie does not stop being Callie.

She is independent, practical, and not especially interested in handing over control just because someone mysterious has appeared with good timing. So the books get mileage out of trust, or the lack of it. Callie has to decide what Greyson knows, what he is hiding, and how much room she is willing to make for another strong personality in work she sees as her own.

These are still cozy mysteries, so the tone stays approachable. The cases can involve danger, smuggling, and deceptive appearances, but the emphasis remains on sleuthing rather than grit. Wallace uses that balance well. The books have a professional investigator at the center, yet they still feel warm and readable, with a female lead, supporting characters who matter, and plots built around working out what is really going on.

That makes the series a nice bridge.

If you like cozies but sometimes want something a little closer to a private-eye setup, Indigo Investigations lands in a sweet spot. Callie brings the formal structure of a case file, Wallace keeps the stories clean and character-driven, and Greyson's presence gives the whole thing a steady undercurrent of uncertainty. It is a series about work, instinct, and learning when partnership is helpful, and when it may be the biggest mystery in the room.
