Reject Me

by Kel Carpenter

2022

Series background & context

Immortal Vices and Virtues is a shared-world project where different authors tell standalone paranormal romances set in the same sprawling universe. Kel Carpenter's contributions lean into cursed shifters, ruthless vampire kings and gods who refuse to stay buried.

In this world the mortal realm is divided among powerful supernatural Houses tied to different elements and territories. Political marriages, ancient feuds and cosmic bargains are everyday business, and most humans never realize just how close they live to monsters.

Reject Me introduces a shifter heroine who cannot fully shift, branded as cursed and treated as a liability by her own House. When she rejects the mate bond with the Alpha Supreme's son, she is cast out and left without protection. Her survival depends on striking a dangerous bargain with the vampire king of Blood and Beryl, she will pretend to be his queen in exchange for safety. What begins as a fake mate arrangement evolves into something that threatens both of their carefully built walls.

Worship Me takes a different angle, playing with reincarnation and obsession. Here the immortal love interest remembers every lifetime he has shared with the same woman, and the fact that he has killed her in each one. In their current life she has no memory of him, and the book follows his attempt to break the cycle without destroying her again.

Each story stands alone with its own couple, but shared landmarks, Houses and passing references tie them together. Readers familiar with other Immortal Vices and Virtues novels will spot crossovers and Easter eggs, while new readers can safely drop in wherever a particular trope grabs them.

Expect high heat, intense fated mate dynamics and settings that blend portal fantasy, dark kingdoms and modern edges. If you want a quick taste of the universe, Reject Me is an accessible starting point, while Worship Me offers a shorter, emotionally punchy spin on the idea that love can follow you across lifetimes.
