Series background & context

The Immortal Protectors series opens with a world where ancient warriors have been brought back from death and given an unfinished job. The Immorti come from different eras and cultures, but they share a responsibility to stand against threats that could break through into the modern world. It is paranormal romance with a larger good-versus-evil problem always close by.

Immortal Redemption introduces Cal Olin, a resurrected Aztec warrior who carries a lot of guilt about his past. Rather than simply waiting for the next disaster, Cal runs Civica, an organization devoted to uncovering and addressing wrongdoing. His work gives the story a modern footing, even as magic, gods, and old enemies begin to intrude.

The immediate crisis starts when Cal finds Dr. Iliana Rogers unconscious near a magical portal. Iliana is Civica's second-in-command, and she is also someone Cal knows well enough to argue with. The portal's opening suggests that a long period of peace may be ending, and neither of them has the luxury of treating it as someone else's problem.

Then the danger gets personal.

Cal must work out whether Iliana is tied to the threat by choice or whether she has been pulled into something she does not understand. Iliana, meanwhile, has to reconsider much of what she thought she knew about Cal, her family, and the strange nightmares that have begun taking over her sleep. Their attraction grows in the least convenient possible circumstances.

Toronto is the starting point, but the story does not stay neatly contained there. The Immorti can move between locations, which gives the series room for a wider supernatural map while keeping the emotional focus on the people caught in the crisis. Cal's past as a warrior and Iliana's search for the truth keep the action connected to questions of trust and responsibility.

Expect magical portals, ancient forces, and a romance built under pressure. The series is a good fit for readers who like their paranormal couples competent, argumentative, and forced to make hard choices before they can build a future together.
