Series background & context

This is Rose's crime-family lane, and it does not try to hide it. The official series setup centers on Made men running a criminal empire while enemies circle the gates. Love is not part of their plan, but once it arrives, it becomes the one thing they will protect just as fiercely as the kingdom they built.

That gives the series a strong mafia-romance shape. Power, loyalty, family control, outside threats, and morally compromised heroes all matter. The men are dangerous, busy, and not looking for softness, which makes it all the more satisfying when the right woman forces them to change priorities.

Even then, the books are not about redemption through gentleness alone. They still sound intense and possessive. These heroes love hard, but they do not suddenly become harmless because they fell in love.

If you want darker contemporary romance with empire-building men, organized-crime stakes, and heroines who upend the plan, Illicit Love is one of Rose's clearest matches for that mood.
