Hungry Ghosts Books in Order

Hungry Ghosts is a smaller-scale Ron Ripley story, but it still has plenty of bite. The book follows Connor Mann, who returns home after spending years in a psychiatric ward. He is already carrying trauma, grief, and the knowledge that whatever broke his life apart in childhood may not have been imagined at all.

Pine Grove does not offer much peace.

There are murders near the cemetery, malevolent spirits lurking close to home, and a growing sense that old supernatural rules are shaping the violence around him. One of the more interesting things about this story is that it pulls in hungry ghost lore rather than relying only on the haunted-house framework many readers may expect from Ripley. That gives the book a different feel, and a more specific kind of dread.

Connor is a good fit for this kind of story. He is not polished, powerful, or fully healed. He is just trying to rebuild a life while realizing the darkness waiting for him never really left. The mystery around the killings and the pressure from the dead keep the pace moving, but the book also stays close to Connor's damaged perspective.

If you want a stand-alone Ripley novel that still delivers ghosts, murder, and a bruised but determined lead, Hungry Ghosts is an easy one to pick up. It is compact, creepy, and just different enough to stand apart from his longer connected series.
