Series background & context
How to Catch an Alpha is a three-book contemporary romance series with humor, heat, and a little danger tucked under the banter. The title tells you the game, but Reynolds has fun with the idea. These women are not standing around waiting to be caught. They have lives, jobs, pets, histories, and very good reasons to be careful.
The first book is Catching Him.
Leah Emerson wants the right man, not just any man. Her new neighbor Tyler Duncan is not part of her plan, even if her cat keeps making that plan harder by sneaking into his place. Tyler did not move for love, but once he wants Leah, he is not subtle about it. The romance is playful, then tightens when another threat enters the picture.
Baiting Him moves to Chrissie and Gaston. Chrissie runs a busy bakery and does not have room for relationship drama. Gaston is drawn to her humor, her independence, and yes, the cupcakes. Their story mixes workplace pressure, pursuit, and danger aimed at the people Gaston loves.
Hooking Him closes the series with Anna McAlister and Detective Calvin Miller. Anna is trying to rebuild after leaving Chicago and her fiancé behind. Calvin has reasons to keep his life simple, but a murder investigation and Anna’s past both complicate that very quickly.
The series is lighter than Underground Kings but not free of suspense. Reynolds uses threats, exes, and criminal trouble to raise the stakes without losing the everyday romance elements: neighbors, bakeries, beach-town resets, and people trying to talk themselves out of wanting what they want.
These books work best in order because the tone builds nicely across the trilogy. Start with Leah and Tyler if you want the full arc. Expect fast chemistry, determined men, and heroines who need proof that the man chasing them is worth the trouble.
