Series background & context

The Houlihan Men of Dublin series is Brooke Summers at her darkest and most dangerous. Set around a Dublin criminal family, these books follow men whose jobs are built on violence and the women who become impossible for them to leave behind.

The first book, The Eraser, introduces the tone through a killer known for leaving no trace. He meets Jessica Grace at a low point in her life and becomes determined to protect her, even though he believes his own darkness makes him the wrong person for her. The story pairs a possessive antihero with a heroine trying to survive the damage already done to her.

These men do not have gentle jobs.

In The Cleaner, a man whose role is making bodies disappear finds himself drawn to Lisa Turner. His loyalty to the Houlihan family has always come first, but the relationship forces him to reconsider what he is prepared to do, and for whom. The romance keeps the series's focus on dangerous men facing feelings they cannot simply control or eliminate.

The Silencer follows a trained killer whose job is to remove anyone who threatens the gang. Clodagh survived terrible harm caused by his father, and their connection brings the past sharply into the present. The Thief continues the series with another specialist within the Houlihan world, someone whose job is to take what the family needs while danger and attraction become tightly linked.

Love does not erase the violence around them.

The books use dark-romance themes including age gaps, revenge, trauma, possessiveness, and forbidden attraction. The heroes are not safe or simple men, and the series does not pretend that their world is easy to escape. Instead, the tension comes from whether they can protect the people they love without repeating the harm that shaped them.

Begin with The Eraser and continue in order. Each book has a new central couple, but the Houlihan family, their enemies, and the escalating history around them make the series more satisfying as a connected read.
