Series background & context
Hope Town is Harper Sloan's second-generation spin-off from Corps Security. The easiest way to describe it is this: the kids readers met around the edges of the original series are grown now, and their parents are not always calm about that fact.
That family history is the point. The series works as connected standalones, but it carries more weight if you already know Axel, Izzy, Cage, Melissa, Beck, Dee, Locke, Emmy, and the rest of the Corps Security circle. Sloan lets the older generation stay present while the younger characters make their own choices, mistakes, and romantic messes.
The town itself feels less like a map location and more like the shared home base for this extended family.
Unexpected Fate opens the series with Danielle Reid and Cohen Cage. Dani has loved Cohen for years, but family ties, timing, and Cohen's military life keep making things complicated. It is a friends-to-lovers story with a lot of long-held longing and the pressure of two families who know each other too well.
Bleeding Love changes the emotional temperature. Megan is a young mother living with grief, and Liam Beckett wants to help her believe that life can be more than survival. When I'm With You follows Nate Reid and Emberlyn Locke, whose history is shaped by age, timing, rejection, and the danger of wanting someone who feels forbidden because the families are so close.
Then Drunk on You brings in Nikki and Shane with a fake relationship setup that starts as a way to shake loose from troublesome exes. As usual with Sloan, the arrangement does not stay tidy for long.
The series has the same heated, protective style as Corps Security, but it is a little more about inheritance. These characters grew up surrounded by huge love stories, loyal friendships, and men who treat protection as a personality trait. That can be comforting, but it also gives the younger generation a lot to live up to.
Read Hope Town when you want found family, adult children of beloved couples, and romances that mix big emotion with banter, heat, and a little outside danger. It rewards readers who like seeing a world expand, not reset, as each new couple steps forward.
