Author bio

Harper Sloan was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, and later made her home in Georgia. She built her name in contemporary romance with big feelings, protective men, and women who have had enough of being underestimated. That Southern backdrop fits a lot of her work: close circles, loud families, old hurts, and people who know exactly how to meddle.

She came to writing in a very practical way. When the house finally went quiet at night, she wrote to unwind, and the stories that came out were full of former military men, found family, and romances that do not tiptoe around desire.

Axel arrived in 2013 and launched the Corps Security series. It introduced readers to Isabelle West and Axel Reid, a second-chance couple caught between past misunderstandings and present danger. Sloan followed quickly with Cage, Beck, Cooper, and Locke, building a world where the security firm is almost as much a family as it is a business.

Readers came for the alphas, but they stayed for the friend group.

Hope Town let Sloan move the story forward into the next generation. In Unexpected Fate, Bleeding Love, and When I'm With You, the children and extended family of Corps Security step into their own romances, carrying the weight of those earlier friendships with them. The books are still heated and dramatic, but they also have a strong sense of people growing up under the watchful eyes of a very involved family.

She has also written outside that original world. Perfectly Imperfect follows Willow Tate, a woman trying to rebuild her confidence after a cruel marriage and years of body shame. The Coming Home books, beginning with Lost Rider, trade security work for Pine Oak, Texas, where the Davis siblings face rodeo injuries, old heartbreak, family duty, and the kind of second chances that only work when people finally tell the truth.

That range is part of the appeal.

Sloan's recurring ingredients are easy to spot: guarded heroines, blunt heroes, second chances, danger at the edge of the love story, and families that are chosen as much as they are born. Her books are often emotional and direct. They are not shy, and they are not trying to be. At their best, they work because the characters want love badly but have to learn how to feel safe with it first.

Sloan has appeared on the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestseller lists, while also moving between independent publishing and traditional releases with Pocket Books. She lives in north Georgia with her daughters, cats, and dog, and her own favorite default setting still seems to be having a book close at hand.
