The Enchantress follows Laura Percy, the practical middle sister. She flees English persecution and takes shelter in the Highlands, only to be abducted by William Ross, the formidable Laird of Blackfearn. Laura is used to plans and order. William brings neither. Their story uses conflict, forced proximity, and an uneven balance of power before turning toward the question of whether either can make room for a life they did not intend.

The final novel, The Firebrand, centers on the youngest sister, Adrianne Percy. Hidden in the Western Isles for protection, she is sent back toward the Highlands with Wyntoun MacLean, a pirate hired by her sisters. Adrianne has her own plan to rescue their kidnapped mother, and it requires a marriage of convenience with the man escorting her. The trilogy's family mysteries and treasure clues come closest to resolution here.

The Percy sisters have different temperaments, but all three resist being treated as prizes in someone else's political or family game. That gives the series its energy. The romances are passionate, but they grow from arguments, bargains, rescues, and the gradual choice to rely on another person.

Start with The Dreamer and continue in order. The sisters' stories can stand alone, but the larger family plot, the treasure clues, and appearances by characters from earlier books all build from one novel to the next.
