Henry Biggston Thriller Books in Order

The Henry Biggston books are Jamie McFarlane's move away from spaceships and into modern thriller territory. Henry, usually called Biggs, is a former Army Ranger who leaves the military without finding an easy way to fit back into civilian life. That setup gives the series its edge right away. Biggs has useful skills, hard instincts, and a strong sense of duty, but those same traits make ordinary life feel too small and too slow.

So trouble finds him.

In When Justice Calls, Biggs gets pulled into a fight against traffickers after a security job exposes something much uglier than he expected. Later books keep that same structure of a man trying to do useful work and getting dragged into violence that other people would rather ignore. One story pushes him toward a deputy's badge and a hunt for a cop killer. Another turns into a manhunt in rough country, where the landscape matters as much as the suspect.

That western feel is a big part of the series. These are modern thrillers, but they make strong use of small towns, open country, local law enforcement, and the tension between official procedure and a man who has spent much of his life acting first and sorting out consequences later. Biggs wants order. He just does not always trust the systems around him to produce it.

The books move quickly and keep the stakes personal. McFarlane does not get fancy here. He goes for clean setups, immediate danger, and the steady pressure of a protagonist who cannot leave bad things alone once he sees them clearly. Biggs is not polished. He is direct, stubborn, and often one bad decision away from making life harder for himself. That roughness helps.

If you like military veterans in civilian crime stories, this series is a straightforward place to start. It mixes thriller pace with a little western dust and a main character who is always trying, not always neatly, to turn training and anger into something useful.
