Series background & context

Helping Hands, Healing Hearts is a warm contemporary-romance series about care work, animals, and people who are trying to build a life after military service. The books are linked by a service that helps military personnel and veterans with practical needs, especially when injuries, deployments, or animals make an already difficult situation harder.

The first book, Healing Home, introduces BB Jones and Navy SEAL Lincoln Bezel. BB takes a short-term job welcoming Lincoln home, expecting a few days of comfort and company. Instead, their connection makes both of them wonder what happens after the assignment ends and real life interrupts.

Then comes a dog named Wicked.

Wicked Healing follows Erin Knox as she cares for a wounded military working dog separated from his injured handler, Luca Carmichael. The dog's recovery and Luca's recovery run alongside each other, and Erin becomes the bridge that helps them find their way back.

In Healing Hope, Paul Jameson is trying to reach his traumatized young daughter after a car accident. A small dog offers the first opening, and caregiver Jessamy Swan becomes part of the family's attempt to make a safe home together.

These books are gentler than Madden's high-action suspense stories, although they still acknowledge loss, trauma, and uncertainty. Animals are active parts of the emotional landscape, not decorative extras. Dogs offer comfort, create practical problems, and often show people what loyalty looks like.

Start with Healing Home for the best introduction to the service and its circle of helpers. Readers who want a compassionate romance with military characters, animal companions, and healing that happens one small step at a time should feel at home here.
