Series background & context
Dogs of War is JM Madden's paranormal military-suspense branch of the larger Lost and Found world. It begins with service members drawn into the Spartan Project, a supposedly secret medical program run by the Silverstone Collaborative. The company promises treatments that could change lives. What it delivers is coercion, abuse, and a dangerous experiment.
In the prequel, Genesis, Navy SEAL Aiden Willingham accepts an invitation to the program after a difficult mission. He soon discovers that the subjects are effectively prisoners and that the experimental serum is changing them in unexpected ways. Four of the men develop a psychic connection, which gives them a lifeline but also raises the stakes.
Getting out is only the beginning.
Chaos follows Aiden after the escape, as he tries to expose the Collaborative while protecting the only family he has left. In Destruction, Drake Fontana returns toward the place of his own trauma to rescue others who may still be trapped. The series continues to widen the fight against the people who created the program.
The paranormal element is rooted in the serum's effects, so the books remain close to Madden's usual interests: military teams, damaged bodies, determined survivors, and people choosing whether to trust one another. The action can be intense, with covert operations, research camps, assassins, and a corporation willing to protect its secrets.
Romance remains central. Each installment pairs danger with a relationship that gives the characters something personal to fight for. The heroes are not untouched super-soldiers. They are men dealing with what was done to them and what they might become.
Start with Genesis. The story builds from book to book, and the emotional payoff lands best when readers see the escape, the fallout, and the growing effort to bring the Silverstone Collaborative down.
