Co-written with Jan Gordon, it follows guardian angels, their human charges, and the heavenly chain of command that tries very hard to keep emotion from complicating the job. Michael is still trying to keep order, and Zeke adds another layer to the ensemble, which helps the series feel bigger than a set of one-couple romances. You start to see a world with history, ranks, and relationships that stretch beyond a single mission.

What makes Hearts and Halos work is the tone. These books are romantic, but they are also warm, a little playful, and interested in the everyday feelings behind a fantastical setup. The tension is not about saving kingdoms or winning wars. It is about what happens when duty and affection stop lining up neatly. A guardian angel is supposed to guide, protect, and step back. That sounds simple until the human on the other end of the assignment starts to matter too much.
