Author bio
Harloe Rae writes contemporary romance that leans emotional, steamy, and very fond of a broody hero. She is from Minnesota, and that mix of lakes, small towns, and country air feels close to the world behind many of her books.
She has described herself as a reader and writer whose love of romance grew into something bigger once she started putting her own stories on the page. After years of carrying ideas around, she launched her career with Redefining Us in 2017, then followed it with Forget You Not as part of her early Reclusive novels.
Those first books set the tone fast.
Rae's romances tend to center on guarded men, outspoken women, and relationships that have to push through hurt, pride, or bad timing before they earn a happy ending. She writes in the contemporary and new adult space, and her stories often mix small-town warmth with a fair amount of angst and heat. Her own short author bios describe the work as emotional and heartfelt, with swoony heroes and sassy leading ladies, and that is a pretty fair summary.
Readers who start with Watch Me Follow or Ask Me Why will see how comfortable she is writing intense emotional setups. Watch Me Follow leans darker and more obsessive, while Ask Me Why pairs a hurting heroine with a harsh single father who does not make love easy. Even when the setup gets messy, Rae usually keeps the focus on emotional payoff rather than spectacle.
She also likes building connected groups of characters. The Garden Grove books, Gent, Miss, and Lass, share a small-town friend-group feel, while Breaker, Keeper, and Loner explore damaged men in the Silo Springs world. Later books like Leave Him Loved, There's Always Someday, Doing It Right, and Mine For Yours keep returning to favorite Rae ingredients: reluctant vulnerability, sharp banter, and people who act like they can handle everything until love proves otherwise.
Broody heroes are clearly her thing.
Her newer work shows how comfortably she moves between flavors of romance. Wrong For You, Yours to Catch, Score on You, and Headed for Home bring sports, bars, and small-town charm into the mix, while Buckled in Barbwire and the Cloverleaf Meadows books lean harder into ranch life, family pressure, and cowboy tension. Across all of them, she seems most interested in what happens when people who have been protecting themselves for a long time are finally asked to trust someone.
She is also a USA Today and Amazon bestselling author.
Off the page, Rae shares bits of a Minnesota life that sounds a lot like the settings she enjoys writing. She has said she loves being lakeside when the weather cooperates, and she spends time out in the country with her horses. She has also written about life with her family, which helps explain why home base moments, family dynamics, and everyday humor feel so natural in her stories.
Even with a growing backlist, Rae still comes across as a reader first, someone chasing the same epic happily ever after that she promises on the page.
