Series background & context

Guardians of the Crossing is a fantasy romance trilogy that moves between quiet cottages, small-town police work and warring kingdoms on the other side of a magical divide. Each book follows a different couple, but together they trace one prophecy and a war that has been brewing for generations.

The series opens in Reign of Secrets with Lucy, a woman who wakes in hospital with no memory of her past. For three months she has been building a peaceful new life in an isolated cottage, even as fragmented dreams disturb her sleep. When Burk, a royal guard, appears at her door claiming she is Princess Syeira and demanding she return to her father, Lucy is forced to question everything she thinks she knows about herself.

In Blood of Kings the focus shifts to Wynter, another young woman marked by strange, prophetic dreams and a bloodline she does not fully understand. A body unearthed near her cottage brings Detective Donovan Boudin, known as Van, back to his hometown to investigate a homicide, and the case pulls him into Wynter's orbit. At the same time Garrick, a warrior bound to Wynter since childhood, is ordered to protect her, drawing the kingdoms across the Crossing closer to open conflict.

By The Lions Prey the slow burn of earlier tensions has become a looming war. Van now rules the kingdom he once only dreamed of, yet revenge still shadows him, especially where Burk, the king of Pairyon, is concerned. Brica, newly widowed and now queen in her own right, faces impossible choices between duty to her people and the pull of her heart as old enmities threaten to erupt.

Across all three books the Crossing itself links modern, grounded scenes with high-stakes court politics, prophecy and magic. Secrets from the other world spill over into investigations on this side, and characters must decide which loyalties matter most when the cost of choosing wrong can be measured in blood.

Readers can expect romance threaded through suspense, political intrigue and questions of identity. While each couple finds their own resolution, the larger story rewards reading the trilogy in order, watching how one missing woman, an ancient bond and the price of vengeance gradually reshape an entire realm.
