Good Intentions Books in Order

At the center of Good Intentions is Alex Carlisle, a young man whose life is already stuck when a dumb midnight dare in a cemetery blows it apart. He interrupts a ritual, saves two bound women, and winds up magically tied to both of them, Rachel, an angel, and Lorelei, a succubus. From that point on, Seattle stops being ordinary. It becomes a city full of sorcerers, demons, vampires, secret agendas, and supernatural problems that do not care whether Alex has class, work, or family dinner tomorrow.

That setup gives the series its main engine. Alex is not a trained hero or a brooding investigator. He is a decent, stubborn guy trying to grow up while two immortal women with their own loyalties, powers, and baggage crash into his life. As the series moves through Natural Consequences, Personal Demons, Past Due, and Devil In the Details, the world keeps widening. Supernatural politics spill into Alex's circle, old enemies and new allies pile up, and the trouble stops being just about one weird accident in a graveyard. Vampires, sorcerers, federal investigators, jinn, demon lords, angry exes, and family complications all come into play. The bigger the cast gets, the more the books lean into found-family energy. People bicker, flirt, rescue each other, make bad calls, and then have to live with the fallout.

The Seattle setting matters a lot. These are urban fantasy books, but they do not live only in hidden temples or ancient ruins. They happen in apartments, clubs, college spaces, family homes, parking lots, back alleys, and all the other ordinary corners of city life where magic has no business showing up, except it does. That everyday grounding is part of the appeal. The series can jump from sex comedy to violence to emotional fallout very quickly, and it works because the characters still feel like people who have jobs, rent, chores, relatives, and mornings to get through.

It is messy, funny, and surprisingly warm.

If you like character-driven fantasy that moves fast and does not pretend romance is separate from the rest of life, this series has a clear lane. The action is frequent, the supernatural world runs on rules strong enough to create real stakes, and the tone has room for both explicit heat and genuine tenderness. Related books like Life in Shadows, Days of High Adventure, and Grand Theft Sorcery open up other corners of the same larger world, but the heart of Good Intentions is still Alex, Rachel, and Lorelei trying to build something real while Heaven, Hell, and half of Seattle keep trying to ruin it.
