Author bio

G.K. Parks came to fiction from the crime side of the map, at least academically. Parks earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History, spent time in law school, then changed course and completed a Master of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice. That background shows up all over the books, not as homework, but as a feel for investigations, procedure, and the messy reasons people make bad choices.

The writing career started in 2012, just two months after graduation. Parks finished a first manuscript within a few months, wrote several more before the debut novel even reached readers, and published Likely Suspects in 2013. That book introduced Alexis Parker, a former federal agent trying to build a life in the private sector, and it set the tone for a lot of what followed.

Then the books kept coming.

Parks has said the love of mysteries goes back to childhood, along with a steady diet of crime shows and thrillers. There was also a more personal influence at home. Parks has talked about a father who worked as a New York City cop and told vivid stories, which helps explain why so many of these novels care about cops, agents, kidnappers, hustlers, and the people caught in the middle.

If you start with Likely Suspects, you get the blend readers tend to come back for: action, sarcasm, and an investigator who is smart but never untouchable. Dangerous Stakes shifts into police procedural territory with Liv DeMarco. Condemned and Betrayal lean harder into mercenary work and kidnapping cases through Julian Mercer. Fallen Angel opens the Lucien Cross books, where private security work has a habit of turning into something much messier than the client first admits.

That mix is the point.

Across the different series, Parks returns to a few favorite ingredients. There are capable women with sharp instincts, men who are useful but complicated, and institutions that do not always deserve the trust they ask for. Cases start with a murder, a threat, or a missing person and then widen into conspiracies, old grudges, undercover work, and moral tradeoffs. Even with all the danger, the books usually leave room for dry humor and banter, which keeps the stories moving without draining them of feeling.

Parks also seems to enjoy building one shared world rather than keeping every series in a separate box. Alexis Parker crosses paths with Lucien Cross and Julian Mercer. Liv DeMarco works the same crime-heavy landscape from a different angle. That makes the bibliography especially fun to read in order, because characters, alliances, and consequences carry forward even when the lead changes.

Off the page, Parks has shared a few small details that fit the books surprisingly well. When not writing, Parks enjoys jigsaw puzzles, cooking, and watching crime or action thrillers on television. It feels on brand. These stories move fast, but they are built by someone who clearly likes figuring out how all the pieces lock together.
