This time someone wants the witnesses gone. The sequel keeps the survival pressure of the first book, but it also adds the aftermath of trauma, the difficulty of trust, and Cheyenne's new determination to fight back physically as well as mentally.

The setting matters because isolation matters. Roads, houses, woods, and stretches of country that feel far from help all feed the tension. Henry is very good at making practical obstacles feel terrifying. Locked doors, bad weather, missing phones, and the simple fact of being in the wrong place at the wrong time can do a lot of work here.
