Golden Touch

by Sarina Bowen

2024

Livia panics when a handsome stranger walks into the brewery where she works, then learns he is her boss's son. Forced to share space with Nash means facing chemistry, fear, and the past she has been running from.

Series background & context

The Giltmaker books sit in the same broader Vermont world as True North, but they bring in a slightly different family axis and a slightly different mood. These stories are still small-town contemporary romance, with all the overlap of local businesses, old history, and familiar surnames, but the focus shifts toward the Giltmakers and the people orbiting them.

That means the series feels connected without feeling like a repeat.

Good as Gold opens with a second chance that is tangled up in divorce, family ties, and one very impulsive request made at exactly the wrong moment. Golden Touch keeps the small-town energy but adds a heroine on edge, a brewery setting, and a romantic setup driven by fear, proximity, and a past that refuses to stay buried. In both books, the emotional work is not just about attraction. It is about deciding whether a new future is even possible after life has already gone sideways.

Like True North, this series likes practical details. Businesses matter. Houses matter. Family expectations matter. The characters are not drifting through an abstract romance space. They are working, returning home, protecting themselves, and trying to figure out whether love can fit around the lives they actually have.

The tone is warm and heartfelt, but there is a bit of edge under it. These are not carefree people. Bowen gives them bruises, responsibilities, and reasons to hesitate. That makes the small-town comfort feel earned rather than automatic.

If you enjoy Vermont romance with crossover potential, family entanglement, and a little more emotional weather than pure cozy, Giltmaker is a good next stop. It shares DNA with True North, but it has its own shape, its own family dynamics, and its own way of mixing hope with hard history.
